Jesse Locks is a communications specialist with over twenty years of experience. After graduating from UC Santa Cruz with a BA in Literature and Journalism, she established herself as a creative force while writing for sports publications such as Thrasher, Heckler, and ESPN. She later went on to work for the Seattle Weekly and Arthur magazines, before moving back to her hometown of Nevada City in 2006. She has been at the helm of the award-winning Nevada City Film Festival for fifteen years and helped the local film festival grow to become recognized as the #9 Best Film Festival in the US (USA Today 10Best) and one of the 25 Coolest Film Festivals in the World (Moviemaker Magazine). Never one to waste a minute, she also works for the Presidio of San Francisco as their online community manager, a job that deepens her interests in history, outdoor recreation, land conservation, wildlife restoration, and equity in parks. Jesse currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Nevada County Arts Council and Sierra Gold Parks Foundation. When she’s not working or volunteering, she is leading her monthly hiking club – Folk Trails Hiking Club.
